Pitigliano is a village  located on high on tufa rock.
The village  was developed by the Etruscan people who built various necropolises along a multitude of paths carved into the  rock called “Vie Cave”.
Pitigliano had its  glorious period  under the Orsini family  which made it the capital of the county. It’s possible to visit the Orsini Fortress and the Museum.
The presence of a Jewish community is documented since the sixteenth century. It’s possible to visit  the Jewish ghetto and the old synagogue.
